How is computer vision used in supply chains?

It can assist receiving, inventory, pick-and-pack verification, damage triage, yard monitoring and bounded safety observations when each output connects to a defined operational action.

Can computer vision replace barcodes or RFID?

Usually no. Vision is best used where visual context is necessary and should complement established identifiers, scanners, sensors and warehouse controls.

Which metrics matter for warehouse computer vision?

Measure precision, recall and count error alongside capture success, latency, review workload, exceptions, overrides, inventory corrections and downstream operational outcomes.

Should supply chain computer vision run at the edge or in the cloud?

Choose from latency, bandwidth, privacy, resilience and management requirements. Many deployments use edge inference with selected evidence and monitoring sent to a managed cloud service.

What is the safest way to pilot computer vision in logistics?

Start with one bounded decision, test representative data offline, run in shadow mode and pilot at one site with human review, fallback and pre-agreed stop conditions.

How should a computer-vision vendor be evaluated?

Test the product on representative operational cases and failure conditions, then assess device management, drift, auditability, integration, security, data rights and total lifecycle cost.
