What is the biggest future trend in facial recognition security?

The durable shift is toward complete, governed systems that combine quality, attack resistance, versioned evaluation, purpose limits and fallback—not simply more accurate matching.

Will edge processing solve privacy concerns?

It can reduce central video transfer, but edge devices still need secure updates, key protection, retention controls, inventory and clear purpose. Location alone does not make processing safe.

Will multimodal biometrics replace facial recognition?

Some high-risk workflows will combine independent factors, but collecting more biometrics also increases complexity and exposure. Use only the evidence necessary for the decision.

How often should models be reevaluated?

Retest on material model, threshold, camera, gallery, population or environment changes and on a scheduled cadence informed by risk and operational evidence.

What should a 12-month roadmap prioritize?

Begin with inventory, data flows, ownership, baseline performance, attack testing, retention and fallback before adding sites, modalities or automated decisions.

How can buyers reduce vendor lock-in?

Require version notice, test interfaces, log access, export formats, deletion evidence, transition help and contractual rights to suspend or reject unvalidated updates.

Can future models remove the need for human oversight?

No. Consequences, uncertainty, disputes, lawful authority and contextual evidence still require policy and accountable human decision paths for consequential uses.
