How do you choose a data visualization tool?

Define decisions, users, data, governance and constraints, then test a small shortlist with the same representative proof of concept and weighted evidence.

What belongs in a BI tool proof of concept?

Include real metric logic, permissions, performance, accessibility, mobile use, publishing, failure handling and an export or embedded workflow.

Why is a semantic layer important?

It can centralise reusable dimensions and measures, but it needs ownership, testing, versioning and a clear relationship with warehouse definitions.

How should tool costs be compared?

Model total lifecycle cost across licences, capacity, infrastructure, administration, development, training, support, migration and exit.

How is accessibility evaluated?

Test the actual authored dashboards for keyboard use, screen readers, contrast, text alternatives, zoom and responsive behaviour against current WCAG criteria.

Should one platform replace all existing tools?

Only when evidence shows it fits each workload. Forced consolidation can make observability, storytelling or custom application needs worse.

What should happen after selection?

Assign owners, define promotion and governance, train users, monitor adoption and reliability, retire stale assets and review realised value.
